Working primarily in acrylic paint, I use vivid color palettes and impressionist-inspired mark-making to highlight form, convey lighting, and play with the interpretation of memory. Capturing my subjects and myself during intimate, personal moments, I aim to evoke more painful memories of the past and savor moments of the present through photos of people I love. As emotions fluctuate, I allow my paintings to respond to my inner thoughts and the turbulence I witness in the people I care for, channeling the mix of discomfort and empathy that is felt when truly knowing someone.
